Ralph Lee Lewis was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Bloomfield, Mo., to James Vernor Lewis and Velma Lee Alexander. When Ralph was nine years old, he went to live with his grandfather, Will Alexander, and he learned all about farming and horses, which he loved dearly, and they loved him, each one had a distinct personality and would do things for him they wouldn’t do for other people. When he was 16, he left home and went from state to state working at different companies.
