Kids enjoy eating ice cream cones and watching a movie under a tent in front of the Texas County Library's Houston branch during an event last Friday kicking off the annual summer reading program. Close to 50 kids signed up for the program this year. That's down from more than 60 last year, but several participants last year came from Cabool where the library branch was closed for remodeling.
