The Houston Post Office occupied new quarters 50 years ago. Located on First Street across from city hall, the building was constructed by Postmaster C.W. McKinney and the late S.E. Ferguson. The 4,000 square foot facility was leased to the government. A work floor, lower left, encompassed about 2,200 square feet. The adjacent photo shows postal box and service lobbies. Work on the project started Sept. 25.
