Texas County officials elected in 2016 gather last Friday afternoon for a swearing-in ceremony at the justice center in downtown Houston. Front row, from left, collector-treasurer Tammy Cantrell, assessor Debbie James, county clerk Laura Crowley, recorder of deeds Lindsay Koch, outgoing county clerk Kris Neal (who did the swearing-in), public administrator Connie Thompson, coroner Marie Lasater and associate commissioner Doyle Heiney. In back are Sheriff James Sigman, left, and surveyor Chuck Manier. Associate commissioner John Casey was enjoying a trip in Mexico and had been sworn in earlier. Cantrell attended the ceremony, but will be officially sworn in in April, while James will be sworn in in September.
